@NaturalWorldWiki, in Taiwan you can pick up a torch like that at pretty much any hardware store for around US$3. You just put in a regular cigarette lighter and you're set.

@wildlifeman120, not sure exactly what kind of ants they were. I've got a few different types running round on my balcony, but this particular species is the largest and slowest moving one, which makes them easier to handle and observe.
