great song! love this band!

@ MINNECONJU : This time I totally agree with you !

@ritter89 You're right about this; but I think it's because so many younger people, who weren't exposed to this music before, hear it for the first time and realize that even 'covers' and 'fillers' from these older bands is STILL better than the garbage palmed off on audiences as 'hits' today. Just like what were 'B' movies and 2nd-rate TV series in our parents' days look like works of art when compared to modern media productions!

@ritter89 Yeah,,,perhaps "Icon" is a bit strong,,,,but back in the day, the song was so far ahead of it's time,,,so RAD as stated elsewhere on this page,,,that it STILL gets air time to THIS DAY!! That oughta' count for something. Especially from a band, that as you correctly observed, never amounted to much on a National level.

@travelsam4 96 Tears is their ONLY claim to fame. I think we've become a little too liberal with this "icon" term. Everyone and their mother seems to get christened an "icon" at some point. I love the song and they're a solid touring band, but these guys haven't written anything (literally) in over 30 yrs. They only released two albums back in the late 60s of mostly covers and filler. Were it not for "96 Tears" they wouldn't have a career. One Hit Wonder is more fitting

We saw the Mysterians play last night in downtown Bay City, MI (where they are from). It was a small pub. Absolutely incredible. They are so very very talented.

@PaleRider81 I wish I was there!!

Thanks,and totally agreed. I can only imagine the atmosphere in those underground smoky pubs where people gathered to hear them play live.
