They scuffle, benches clear, refs sort it out, everyone calms down and they get back to playing the game.Nowadays its:Game stops for 30mins,reft T up half the players, flagrent this, flagrent that;suspensions left and right;David Stern gettin on his high horse;Stephen A&Bayless debate for a week;Outside the Lines do an hour long story about 'Violence in the NBA';politicians puttin their 2cents in.Why cant we JUST GET BACK UP,CALM DOWN,AND PLAY.Thats why I miss the 80s,no politics&PC crap involved.

Didn't u watch the Olympics last yr when we played Spain. The only athletic player they had was Ibaka & he didn't do a thing the entire game. Lebron is insanely athletic & Marc Gasol isn't athletic at all but Gasol was injured & still went 7-7 with Bron trying to guard him. He was using Lebron so bad it was laughable. Luckily for us Gasol couldn't play the 2nd half because he was hurt. Same with Ibaka. He can't guard Gasol or Zach Randolph to save his life yet he 10x more athletic than them.

U have ti understand MJ was 40 & the best most efficient player on his team & they were still fighting for a playoff spot the last 2 weeks of the season. That wizards team was horrible. As far as athleticism goes. U r not gonna get more athletic than Nance, Robinson, Barkley, MJ, Drexler, Dr. J, Thompson, Sky Walker, Webb, KJ etc... A lot of those guys had a higher overall skill set. Athleticism means nothing really anyway. Love has a 9" vertical & was the best rebounder in the NBA.

Watching the 2013 Celtics struggle to score 30 in a half (game 6 vs weak Knicks), your statement is pretty laughable. Today's players know two shots--three pointer and dunk. That's pretty much it. Basketball is a soft sport regardless of the era (this isn't the NFL or hockey) but at least you could get away with a hard foul in the 80's.

Jordan missed the playoffs because he played for the awful Wizards. Malone's Jazz made the playoffs, with an even older John Stockton at the point.

Did anyone else notice Rambis got taken out by his own player when he went to go fight McHale?

its funny how u nostalgic farts claim the league was physical back then and show this same god damn clip over and over again. and yes jordan dropped 20 a game but that pussy didnt sniff playoff basketball.

todays dudes would destroy these non athletic payers u saw then.

Please. Jordan and Malone were still dropping 20 a game at 40 in a league not much different from the one you see today, yet they couldn't win shit in the 80's as young men. Why is that if it was such an inferior league?

Ben Wallace? LMFAO, why would you bring him up? A role-player with no offense. Rose? Think that chucker could win an MVP in the 80's?

That's just good basketball. Kevin Mchale wasn't thrown out the game for this either. Today, he would have been ejected and suspended for this.

You have no idea. Yes, the NBA did not have as many world-class athletes back in the 1980s as they do now, but the game was a LOT rougher. More physicality was allowed back then; there was no such thing as a flagrant foul in those days. Forearm-checking and hand-checking were legal, and teams still had enforcers and thugs on their rosters. And don't forget that half of the league's players were coked-up all of the time too.
