A marvellous one-off. As far as I know, this is Pauline Tinsley's only Salome, for Chelsea Opera Group on 4 June 1977, with conductor Nicholas Braithwaite, Graeme Matheson-Bruce (Herod) and Patrick Wheatley (Jokanaan) -- does anyone know who the other members of the cast were? Tinsley obviously knew what worked for her, but I think she could have continued with the role; her focus, commitment and musicality enable her to present a Salome which is exciting, involving and yet mercifully free from vocal tricks and effects.
Just bloody good singing!

I wish the sound were better, but it's good enough to give a fair idea of Miss Tinsley's performance. Less good is my attempt to match and splice in the missing last ten seconds of my recording, so be warned. Enjoy nonetheless!
