Caci Dance,Manggarai Flores

Caci is a traditional dance of Manggarai tribe in Flores island, east nusa tenggara province, Indonesia.
The dance is usually held on big ceremonies, such as: Penti (thanksgiving for the harvest and the blessing received in a village ), priesthood ordination, and also on Indonesia independent day in Ruteng, the capital sity of manggarai regency and also on wedding party. Caci dance performed only ply by the men and the women are participated in playing some musical instruments to accompany the caci dancer. It is a bit violent. It can be very bloody sometimes. Caci is also the expression of courage because not anybody can do this. They are usually divided in two groups, the home side and the guests. To know more about caci, please welcome to Manggarai.
