@DonSolaris - Wow...I never thought of using a spectrum analyzer like that. Overkill methinks :-D
I've seen the SQ-80 spectral measurements you posted on Deep Synthesis - very informative ! The "AM bug" documentation and audio clips are likewise useful. That info helped me build a few cool patches for my 'board. One of them is a glitchy AM bug sent through a sweeping resonant filter. Its clicks and pops form the rhythm track in "Polar Path". I merely strike the same note every 8 beats :-D

Seems we have the same muse.

Only a short drive, yet I like where it went. It's cool that you took the SQ-80 along for the ride.
The drums and minimal bassline are really tight. The rhythmic pipe organ sounds like it came from the Ensoniq...perhaps the soft breathy pads, as well ?

@waveformblue I multi tracked the Wavestation. SQ-80 just played the bass. Speaking of: I didn't put acoustic isolation in the studio yet, so i'm not sure is the bass ok or too loud. On headphones it sounded ok, but many things sound good on headphones before you hear the true horror on the speakers - worst moment of my life is when testing the same mix on the speakers and everything is completely wrong in the mix.

@DonSolaris - No worries sir; your mix is fine. The bassline and low kicks are only somewhat emphasized on my car stereo. At home through a pair of good Boston Acoustics bookshelf speakers, the levels are well balanced.
Mixing in the cans is tricky. My first two songs sounded OK on Audio Technica ATH-40s. Being new at this, I didn't think to do a sanity check with loudspeakers. Only after posting on YouTube did I realise that the overall level was low, yet with too much bass in the mix :-(

@waveformblue Thanks a lot for the info. I'm thinking about spending more time with spectral analyzer and literally LEARN how the curve should look like on most of the mixes. Will take screenshots of 50 or so random songs and find some kind of a line "in the middle" thru which i should sculpt all of my songs in the future.
