Alan Hebert and Bethany Owen practicing the "body roll" technique for WOB. Instead of "digging deep" and "standing up, hard", the idea is to A.) get a rhythm in the swing of the weight, B.) stay relaxed in the upper body C.) in the backswing of the weight, feel the stre-e-e-etch D.) drive the knees forward at the beginning of the upward motion E.) "roll"the body upwards, much like the hip-hop dance move (search YouTube for videos) and use the changing axes of your body to create a lever arm to the weight with your arm. This motion should concentrate on using large core body muscle to move the weight, rather than a big "pull" with the shoulders. NOTE: it's hard on your back!
Credits to Bert Sorin and Mike Pockoski for some coaching and tips on this...
