  • Well, was he in charge there until Bush returned?

  • @gopconservative78 I think Haig was trying to discourage the Soviets from taking advantage of the situation in an hour of chaos and confusion. Actually the line would have been Reagan, then Bush, then Speaker of the House Thomas A. "Tip" O'Neill. If something had happened to Bush, O'Neill would have been president, not Haig.
