I was hired by Joe Straczynski to create official Babylon 5 music videos for him to use at science fiction conventions, and later to promote the show to networks. We produced eight over the run of the series. Now, 10 years after the end of the series and numerous requests from fans, Straczynski has allowed me to post these online.

This video was produced near the end of Season Two, and debuted at the 1995 Comic-Con. The show was heading into darker territory, and Joe had Christopher Franke compose a suite that became know as the "Requiem for the Line". This one went though several revisions, as JMS was very specific about certain things he wanted to see, and a certain mood he wanted to project.

Watching this clip makes me want to start all over again : - )

  • Best Show ever. I feel that I knew these people as personal friends. I still watch My complete set of these on a regular basis. Excellent job JMS!

  • @kazcita, I agree. The only other American-made TV series of any kind that have been B5’s peers in sheer storytelling quality and vision have, ironically, been fantasy animated series ostensibly written for an audience of children: Disney’s “Gargoyles” in the 1990s, and “Avatar: The Last Airbender” (the series, not to be confused with the live-action movie) in the 2000s.

The latter especially shares B5’s concept of a single story over the series, with a predetermined beginning, middle, and end.

  • No other show (except perhaps West Wing) can make me laugh, cry, shiver in awe and sob in just a few minutes. This is a truly extraordinary show and I'm so glad these are up.

  • This is my heart and soul. No show like it ever. The best, and love it so very much, bravo JMS!

  • Awesome, great, incredible, the best show period!

  • I still hold out hope for the telepath wars film/series. B5 is so deserving of a major feature production.

  • Not just the best sci-fi series ever made, but the best *anything* series ever made. I love(d) it with a passion unrivalled.

An incredible video tribute. Thank you!

  • IT WORKS AT resolution 480P

  • This is precisely why I consider B5 to be the best Sci-Fi series ever. Star Trek was great in its own way, and I grew up on it. But for the most part, it showed a paradise that I don't think Humanity will ever see, unless we learn to grow up, and understand. DS9 was different. It showed that not everything was peachy, and there was a darkness spreading. But B5 practically perfected the ominous threat. It didn't end with the Shadows leaving. It was realistic, and that's why it's better than ST.

  • it does work at 480P
