Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in the Czech Republic, Estonia and Ukraine at head with the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipontentiary, His Excellency Mr. Jean Faltz, arranged in Prague, "Stone Bell House", the gala concert - on February 6th, 2011.
The concert was dedicated to the long-term relationships between Luxembourg and the Czech lands. Namely, on February 7th, 1311, was John the Blind, Count of Luxembourg (Jang de Blannen - Jan Lucemburský) coronated as the King of Bohemia. By this event started the era of Luxembourg dynasty in the Czech Kingdom (his eldest son, Charles the Fourth, was the Holy Roman Emperor, too).
So, the solid reason to feel very tight mutual connections...

Guillaume de Machaut (1300 - 1377) wrote the "Messe de Nostre Dame", the earliest known complete setting of the Ordinary of the Mass attributable to a single composer. He was a secretary of King John.

René Mertzig (1911-1986), well-known Luxembourgian pianist and composer, created his "Trois esquisses" in 1955.

Sylvie Bodorová dedicated her five-part composition (for strings / symphony orchestra) "Carmina lucermburgiana" just to the memory of John the Blind - Jang de Blannen - Jan Lucemburský. In the year 2011 we remember the 700th anniversary of very important moment of the European history, joined to his coronation.

The Chamber Orchestra QUATTRO, Prague (with leader Pavla Franců) plays under its artistic director Marek Štilec.
