British trade unions are renowned for being confrontational. The French create nation-wide chaos with their general strikes. When Germans strike, it's a quieter affair - well-organised and traditionally followed by coffee and cake at trade union headquarters.

  • Thank reason for trade unions. They have been an indispensable force in achieving the high living standards working people in the West enjoy relative to countries without comparable union traditions and class consciousness. Trade unions have not only empowered working people, who divided are at the mercy and whim of parasitic monied elites, to defend and better their lives and those of their families, but enable working people to challenge the abuse of power such as South African apartheid.

  • Trade unions are the worst thing to happen to this world. If you cannot negotiate with your "boss", maybe that should compel you to do something for yourself.
