I'm sorry, I disagree with your description of "art". You imply that art school is copying Leonardo paintings. No, it is not. "Art" is not copying, art is creativity. You are using "art" and "design" to distinguish between art with reference and art without reference. Do you think that Michelangelo had the entire Sistine Chapel set up, or did he "design" based on models he had and knowledge he had about existing figures? You're doing "art", just without a reference except memory.

when ever i use an art program i always though it was cheating to use copy and pasted stuff from anything other than ur own work. I never though to use textured things like that carbon fiber texture to quickly get an effect.
