Among the driving forces are petroleum prices,which increase the cost of everything from fertilizers to transport to food processing.Climate-change and farmers turning food crops into biofuels,there are many factors and it will get worse,before it gets better.
Prices are gowing up. but the farmer will still farm at a loss for the fact that inputs are going up ie fuel fertilizer seed labour

oil seem the big problem. fuel from oil powers fram machines and fezier are made oil. also fuel from oil powers ships and trucks that gets food to market. one solluation is to take agurature waste form growing corps and power the farm machines.

760 million tons of grain is for "animal feed" and 100 million tons of grain is for "ethanol". If the first-world nations cut their per-capita meat consumption by half and insisted on higher mpg for cars and trucks we could feed an additional 3 billion people... Naw, that's too simple!
