Playing with the Meerkat

The meerkat woke me up super early on Sunday (hence why Im watching Disney in my bright pink onesie!)

He was hand raised as a baby and we are lucky that he is as placid as possible for a mongoose. Please remember that Meerkats do not make good pets and can deliver a very nasty precise bite (left my partner with nerve damage). They need other meerkats for companionship and are not lap animals who will seek you out for cuddles. They only tollerate handling. They also have a specialised diet and a long lifespan which should be taken into account.

Do Meerkats scratch and bite (normally?)?

I'm wondering...because kids love them...I think they should let kids hold them at the zoo. Very popular enclosure.
