Livgardets Dragonmusikkår (Sweden), Band of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (The Netherlands) and The Guards Band (Finland)

The Livgardets Dragonmusikkår (The Swedish Mounted Band of the Royal Lifeguards), formerly known as the Livgardets Dragontrumpetarkår, is one of Sweden´s three conscript bands. It has 29 players, 21 of them conscripts and 8 professionals on short contracts.
The band appears about 120 times a year in concerts and parades. It is responsible for providing music on state occasions, such as at the changing of the guard, on Sweden´s national day and during state visits. To an increasing extent it nowadays also performs light music.

The Band of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee is one of the six military bands of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Like the Marechaussee Training and Knowledge Centre, it is stationed at the King William III Barracks in Apeldoorn. Most of its 54 members are qualified musicians. In addition to performing as a full-strength concert and marching band, it can break down into smaller ensembles: a big band, brass quintet or a saxophone quartet.
Its unique collection of instruments, including saxophones, 15 flugelhorns and extended percussion, is the key to the band´s soft, harmonious sound.
Like all military bands, the Royal Netherlands Merachaussee is responsible for performing on state and ceremonial occasions for the Armed Forces, such as parades. During the past ten years it has travelled widely in Europe, taking in Sweden, the UK, France, Germany, Belgium and Russia. It has also visited Canada.

Established in 1819, the Guards Band is the oldest Finnish band still in operation and the only full-size professional wind orchestra in Finland. It is the official band of the Finnish Defence Forces and nowadays subordinate to the Commander of the Guard Jaeger Regiment. Its ranks include all the wind and percussion instruments to be found in a symphony orchestra and its repertoire takes in all kinds of military music. It makes more than 300 appearances a year and gives some 40 concerts. During the past few years it has also excelled in formation marching and has quickly developed into a leading band even by international standards in this genre of wind music. Ever since Finland gained political independence in 1917 the Guards Band has performed on state occasions.
Twenty-five conductors and over 1,000 players have so far served in the Guards Band, with a maximum of nearly 70 musicians at one time.
The Guards Band has, throughout its history, been a pioneer for all Finnish wind music. The example set by its conductors and players and the training provided by the band have shaped the course of Finnish wind music as it is known and performed today.

Mini-Tattoo Helsingissä 29.7.2008 klo 12.00
Senaatintorilla on loistava mahdollisuus kokea pieni pala Hamina Tattoon sotilasmusiikkitapahtumasta tiistaina 29.7. klo 12.00. Torilla kohtaavat kolmen maan sotilassoittokunnat Ruotsista, Hollannista ja Suomesta.
Mini-Tattoon Senaatintorilla aloittaa Hollannista saapuva 54 muusikosta koostuva Band of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee - Alankomaiden sotilaspoliisin soittokunta. Soittokunta on yksi kuudesta Alankomaiden kuninkaallisesta soittokunnasta ja sen asemapaikka on Kuningas William III:n kasarmilla Apeldoornissa.
Toisena esiintyy ruotsalaista sotilasmusiikkia edustava Livgardets Dragonmusikkår. Livgardets Dragonmusikkår saapuu Senaatintorille näyttävästi 24 hevosella Eteläsataman Makasiiniterminaalista. Soittokunnan ehdoton tavaramerkki onkin nuo tarkoin valitut ja pitkän koulutuksen saaneet hevoset.
Suomea Mini-Tattoossa edustaa perinteikäs Kaartin Soittokunta. Vuonna 1819 perustettu soittokunta on Suomen vanhin toiminnassa oleva orkesteri.
