You don't have to pay a year, luckily. You can usually get Xbox Live Cards. 5~10$ I think, for a month, 20$ for three months, and 50$ for 12 months, plus a bonus. You can also paid by credit card, if you don't want to leave your house for that one card.

This is his first time getting an Xbox 360. Now, we don't want to hear how you like to spend your money on WoW, and we also don't want to hear how you earn money by selling yourself on the corner. Shutup dude, you probably blow all your money on World of Warcraft or some stupid MMO. Either that or you're poor, because Xbox live is actually only $60 a year.
