The Asian Tsunami of December 2004 left a trail of destruction in South and Southeast Asia. Picking up from where the news media left off, Children of Tsunami tracks the recovery of eight affected families in the four hardest hit countries. TVE Asia Pacific's locally based TV journalist teams are visiting and filming with them every month in 2005 to track their recovery.

In June 2005, the key concerns are schooling, livelihoods and unethical religious practices. In India, Mala and Selvam struggle to finish their schooling while those who do complete their education, find appropriate jobs hard to come by. In Indonesia, Putri's father hopes to return to his old job soon but the exact date remains uncertain. Yenni realises that it would be difficult for their four families to live together for much longer and hopes to raise some additional donations by temporarily living in a tent. In Sri Lanka, Heshani's father tries to help his daughters overcome their fear of the sea while the villagers express frustration at the slow progress of reconstruction. After a fight with his co-workers, Theeban stops working in the motor garage and resorts to casual labour. In Thailand, both Bao and Beam's families are worried that the Christian evangelists' "invasion" is adversely affecting their traditional beliefs and lifestyle.
