Excellent. I did that song but I didn't do it as well as you. I should of practiced it more before I put it on youtube. I checked out a few of your vids. You're a very talented lady. Have you ever been in a band? Keep up the good work.

Women make better bassists..it;s a supportive thing! xx

You're really good. Now it's time to move up to the Who, and expand into John Entwhistle's universe of bass that, in my view, is light years beyond any of bass in rock. Keep rockin'. I'm in your shadow. Perhaps one day, I'll be as good as you. Peace.

Nice cover. I would like to learn this cover and your video helps. Just got a new Ibanez sr1200e bass to replace my Ibanez sr400 and this would be a good song to add to the covers I am learning. I read music but the songbooks often don't have the bass line and so it is nice to hear someone play the bass line where you can hear it and tell if your are using the right scale pattern. Good job!

Good job. This song has a more complex bass line than the casual listener hears. It is one of my favorite pop songs of all time. The Grass Roots were better than than everyone says, despite all the personnel changes. I always thought they should have recorded this without the horns - the bass and drums carry the song along with the harmony. I enjoyed watching your performance.

And in a pink shirt <3
This is masterful playing. Several people commented on lead singer Rob Grill's amazing ability to sing and play the bass line in this song. Well, he doesn't. Look/listen closely at his recordings of live performances. And Grill didn't even do the bass work on the studio recording. The famous "Wrecking Crew" bassist Carol Kaye is the artist on the recording.

@Max0nly Thanks for the kind words.
Although I admire Carol's playing very much,
I believe the bass line was played by Joe Osborne not Carol Kaye.

you need to hit that G# twice for the intro. I noticed that you go from that note to C#, I know, I have been playing this in a cover since the 1970's. good luck.

Oh yeah, I also had to fudge the part that goes,
"brings out a need in me that no one can hear"
I couldn't figure that out so I just made something up. Do you know how that part goes? Thanks

@Honda599Girl w/o ability to transcribe it for you here ; it's a D#m7 scale followed by a C#m7 scale played going down the scale but begin w/ the D# note played on the A string and then the D# an octave higher. The whole 2 bar phrase ends w/ the C# note on the A string. W/ that in mind you should be able to hear it on the recording.
