Valkyrie Opening

This is the opening of the feature film, directed by Bryan Singer and written by Chris McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander.

I was one of the editors of the documentary for the film.

The most powerful experience was listening to the interviews with the children of the conspirators -- particularly Berthold von Stauffenberg -- the real life oldest son of the character Tom's Cruise plays. The interviews strike a deep chord with anyone who has lost a father tragically.

Stauffenberg was transferred in early 1943 to the 10th Panzer Division, which was supposed to cover General Erwin Rommel's retreat in North Africa. Severely wounded on April 7, 1943, Stauffenberg was flown back to Germany before the German troops in Africa surrendered.

The oath is so paralyzing, so intense, in the theater it was impressive, incredible and amazing, world war II just doesnt stop amazing me at all.

Did German supply trucks really explode like that under fire? American ones were known to (because they were filled with gasoline), but didn't German trucks use diesel?
