The PUSHER Trilogy

In select theatres 8/18

Writer and director Nicolas Winding Refn turned down a place at the prestigious National Danish Film School in order to make his 1996 feature film debut, PUSHER. This violent, edgy, yet moving cult classic established Refn as an uncompromising filmmaker of great talent and depth. Following his next two films, Bleeder (1999), and Fear X (2003), Refn returned to the Copenhagen underworld in 2004 with PUSHER II: WITH BLOOD ON MY HANDS, while 2005 saw the release of the 3rd instalment, PUSHER III: I'M THE ANGEL OF DEATH. All three PUSHER films display Refn effortlessly blending moody atmospherics and frenetic action, portraying his characters with a depth and confidence far belying his years. Though each film can be appreciated independently of the other three, Refn subtly interweaves these three tales so that a minor character in one film moves to the fore to become the central character of the next. The resulting trilogy stands as a masterful reinvention of international crime cinema, as poignantly human as it is brutally and viscerally realized.

  • MASTERPIECE TRILOGY!!!

  • Man I love these films so hard. Absolutely amazing. My morbidity kept me wanting to see how desperate the characters could get. Great trilogy!

  • Some of the "miny reviews" posted here dismiss the trilogy as an exploration into the criminal underworld of Dennmark(which it is) but theirs more to it then that. Watch Pusher 2, you see how Tony played by Mads seems disgusted by the lifestyle and towards the end the scene at the billiards where it shows he does lines away from his child but the mother does it in front of, Pusher 2 really balanced the series, and you feel remorse for Tony because he has no self esteem due to his father

  • aah franke

  • There should be a hell more of these films. Fuck Hollywood and 99% of their shit.

  • @MythicShot I'm sure the world shares in the same filth...

  • @Bzicnephrilis he is an amazing director, but he is a fucking cunt of a personality... holy shit, what a rat.

  • @Bzicnephrilis If you like Drive then look up a movie from 1981(?) directed my Michael Mann starring James Caan called THIEF...it's awesome!
