On January 24, 2008 Speaking with Democracy Now's Amy Goodman Ali Abunimah, co-founder of the online publication The Electronic Intifada and the author of One Country: A Bold Proposal to End the Israeli-Palestinian Impasse.

Said this:

AMY GOODMAN: Ali Abunimah, I wanted to ask you about the candidates in the United States. You're speaking to us from Chicago, so let's start with Barack Obama...

...ALI ABUNIMAH: I remember, Amy—I knew Barack Obama for many years as my state senator—when he used to attend events in the Palestinian community in Chicago all the time. I remember personally introducing him onstage in 1999, when we had a major community fundraiser for the community center in Deheisha refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. And that's just one example of how Barack Obama used to be very comfortable speaking up for and being associated with Palestinian rights and opposing the Israeli occupation. And just yesterday, he apparently sent a letter to Zalmay Khalilzad, the US ambassador at the UN, to urge the US not to allow any resolution to pass criticizing Israel and saying how Israel was forced to impose this barbaric medieval siege on Israel.

Sadly most people have no idea what the real issues are. hemmel777 laid it out very well: land and resources. The Israelis drove the Palestinians off all the fertile land and built walls around them, making sure the big aquifers are on the Israeli side. They even divert rivers away from Palestinian towns and towards illegal settlements. The people in Gaza literally cannot survive without international aid (which is kept to a trickle by Israel.)

@RGMorgan Sadly people don't know the issues and post lies. Israel drove no one away. Arabs from surounding nations time and again have tried to destroy the only legitimate heir to the land and have failed.

I do not really know myself but I heard Obama grew up as a muslim but is none Christian because it is more politically correct, I have seen enough to know he is a liar and he nows supports alot of bills Bush brought in, he has failed as Prez and is running out of time fast. He has spent millions of tax payer money having booze soaked and white outs at the white house while some of his people cannot even afford lucky lager the cheapest beer out there.

Obama idolized Malcolm-X.

Malcolm-X was a hatemonger.

Many of Obamas close friends R white hatemongers. Even Obamas wife wrote in her Princeton thesis how she had a disdain 4 white people.

Malcolm-x once wrote that all good white people s/b killed b/c they grow up to be bad.
