La Tour lévite grâce à des pastilles supraconductrices. Les supraconducteurs, une fois refroidis dans de l'azote liquide à -196°C, conduisent parfaitement le courant électrique et expulsent les champs magnétiques. Ils repoussent ainsi les aimants et font léviter la Tour.
