In the CTA system, there are two rapid transit stations named "Belmont": the busy, recently renovated Red/Brown/Purple Line station in the Lakeview East neighborhood, and this one in the Avondale area on the Blue Line's Kimball Subway. This is one of three subway sections of the Blue Line (the others are the Milwaukee-Dearborn Subway and the O'Hare Subway), and was built from 1967-70 as part of the extension to Jefferson Park. This station and Logan Square are almost identical, and are the only two stations on this segment of subway.
Here, I enter from the street, having just left the #77- Belmont bus seen laying over outside the station, going belowground to the fare collection area. Sorry about the tilted camera (as I try to film and scan my Chicago Card at the same time). Going down onto the platform, we see an 8-car rush hour train dropping off its crowd of commuters and departing toward O'Hare, and after a brief walk down the platform, my southbound (toward the Loop and Forest Park) train arrives. Both trains here consist equally of 2600 and 2200-series cars, the latter of which are CTA's oldest currently in-service.
love it man
