This is the "Holy Grail Dark Classical" piano preset from ROM bank 3 on the Alesis Fusion 8 HD. I'm playing one of my faster (goofy) little tunes to show the response of the fully-weighted hammer action keys.

  • Please man, send me the sheet of this song, I listen to this 45646565465 times per day... caio_wizard@hotmail.com thx...

  • @caiolug Thanks, man. You're very generous with your comments. It must've been more than 4 years when I first wrote this piece. I didn't even give it a specific title. I have the original composition in Sonar somewhere on my hard drives. It originally had percussion, strings and piano in it. Things changed, and I never got around to finish that composition. The piece here is just a simplified "snippet" of that. Maybe if I can find the original project folder, I can polish that up and post it...

  • You are pro! you should write notes for your stuff

  • Hi Mayestroh...great stuff! The HG Piano has three separate velocity samples which is that bad. What you can do without too much tweaking is to go global menu set the velocity curve to EXP and velocity scaling 40-50 and it will be more playable. I also changed the reverb to HALL and gave little bit more value.

  • Mayestroh, please man I want the sheet of this song, its wonderful man, if you can send me some mp3 and sheet I will thank you so much man, good job =)

  • @luigiperso Thanks again. And I absolutely agree - hardware, software, or whateverwear - they are all just a means to an end, not the end itself, which is like you said - music - the product of those means. It's really easy to get GAS (gear acquisition syndrome), where you're just always waiting for that "next" piece, and "then" you will be able to write all kinds of music... But as soon as you get it, previews come out for an even better one, and so on forever. Write now, upgrade later. Eh?

  • @Mayestroh , but regardless, your piece is really nice, in the end the music is always more important than if we use a keyboard instead of another, etc....very nice music, thanks for posting

  • @Mayestroh Hey Mayestroh, what is the name of the song do you play in this video??? its wonderful!!!

  • @Mayestroh , yeah these libraries are great, it's just the computer in general that to me is a piece of crap.....to start with, I have never liked programs like Cubase or Logic. Too much crap, too convoluted, I only use punch-in/out to correct mistakes, and on all these programs you have to tear your hair off to understand how to do very basic things like these. That's why I hate them. There's so much choice on computer that music just don't get done; there's always something to fix or add

  • @luigiperso last year i got the entire ewql library! (they've since come out with Hollywood Strings & Brass, Dark Side, and MOR2).

I can't imagine where else I'd get such cool sounds - like the Persian battle drums, or middle eastern duduks, or the mindblowing pianos. I do need to step up to SSD drives though, to stream as many instruments as I like to. Even a sata raid0 doesn't always cut it.

  • @luigiperso Yep, I second that. Hyper-sampling is awesome for real-life instruments - and EWQL got the rest of us common folks so much closer to the real sound of instruments we otherwise could never afford. But sampling falls a bit short when trying to recreate the ever morphing sounds created by real analog oscillators or frequency modulating circuits. That's why computer generated models of these sounds (physical modeling) still act and respond more like the real analog thing.
