thanks so much for uploading this stuff ymo1965. Hosono's stuff isn't easy at all to find in america so it's awesome to see his entire range on youtube. the only "equal" to him is maaaybe Brian Eno but even then I enjoy Hosono's music more, he certainly seems to have a better sense of humor

Mr hosono's musical background goes as far back as the late 60s ('apryl fool' then 'happy end') and then in the 70s (Tin pan alley). This guy is so versatile it's unreal. Basically doing this style is taking him back to his real roots. I adore this stuff!

The first ever real solo electronic album he ever produced was 'Cochin Moon' (indian flavour)
He also recorded with the yellow magic band (first album with sakamoto and takahashi that i'm aware of) 'paraiso' ('78). There followed a few more releases before the legendary 'Yellow Magic Orchestra' album in '79

Dude, YOU know your Hosono history quite well. and you are quite right about Hosono-dono's variety of style. anyone who has "Mental Sports Mixes" can tell you about his eclectic stylings...

The trouble with 'Mental Sports Mixes' is its mixed by the likes of something wonderful and the orb etc. If you want to hear what many of the 'originals' sound like, grab yourself 'Omni Sight Seeing' :D
