A simple Pedestrian Signal Controller I built using a PIC microcontroller.

The unit features:
- Standard Sequence
- Flashing Walk
- Omitted Pedestrian Clearance Interval
- Actuated Mode (if a push button is attached the unit will rest in DON'T WALK until the button is pressed, at which time it will instantly advance to WALK)

The countdown pedestrian signal features a Dialight Hand/Man combo and the countdown unit is an early version made by DuraLight

  • @wileyk209zback. Oh yeah? Cool. In Mount Pearl Newfoundland where I live to, there is only 1 set of traffic lights where the "Walk" light flashes, and when the "Don't Walk" light comes back on, it doesn't flash at all. Kind of unusual. And the lights are just on a single crosswalk, and are only pedestrian activated.

  • I remember seeing pedestrian signals using a flashing "Walk" indication in Washington D.C. I believe it is used to remind pedestrians to be very careful when crossing the street.

  • Nice.
