Islamic country FINALLY agrees not to have Black slaves

Years ago the international community put pressure on South Africa to finally get rid of Apartheid. Apartheid was a terrible injustice that was going for decades, but the international community finally got rid of Apartheid in South Africa.

Meanwhile in North Africa Muslim countries like the Sudan, Darfur and Mauritania were still practicing slavery. Arab Muslims had black slaves, many had been held by families for generation. The slaves had been born into slavery to a family and that is the only life they ever knew.

What is surprising is that Middle Eastern media has never put pressure on Mauritania. Also no Muslim country had put pressure on the country to stop this practice of slavery.

Most people are unaware of this.

Many people of Mauritania never believed they were doing anything wrong because in the Qur'an and in Hadiths Prophet Muhammad was a slave owner and they were just following the teachings of the Quran.

The modern world never caught up to them. They still had slaves today and they continued to do so, until they got pressure from western countries.

This went unnoticed because most people are too busy watching rap, rock and pop videos and not really paying attention to the plight of the black African people in North African and slavery.

More people watch Souljah Boy, Britany Spears and Chris Crocker then what is going on around them.




I am glad they enacted this anti-slavery law, but they did so in 1980s but never followed through on enforcing it.

They need to let go of their racist policies sent the majority of the slave owners were Arabs and the slaves were black Africans. Slavery is the worst form of racism.

Slavery lasted 3 centuries in the west, but lasted 14 centuries in the middle east and is practiced today like in this country.

This is part of the legacy of slavery that most African American people should know.

Many black converts or reverts do not know this history before they converted believing that they were originally Muslim before they were sold into slavery. They were not. People should research their history before they convert or revert.
