and not just from the bbeb, but yer perhaps its the liberal press, but I live near the Trent and while far from perfect it's a dam site better than the Thames.

@JustB3NJI This is the thing with the BBC im affraid, they tend to spout things like this as an attempt to make things sound worse than they really are,

ive been catching eels when fishing on the thames & they are a healthy grey colour, if the water is bad they go a colour green,

as for the hospital statement that is par for the course with any large river or canal, its more to do with what water rats pee has in it & you will get that anywhere.

Admitted I wasn't aware of tidal influence, However I'm sure im not wrong

about it being badly polluted. It's discussed often in the news - I recently read an article on the BBC website discussing how badly damaged the ecology was and that Eels were at dangerously low levels.

to the hospital to be checked out for diseases

@JustB3NJI The thames will always look like that as it is tidal,

the silt is disturbed by the undertow caused by these tides,

when in fact its cleaner than you think if you take into account the high success rate of certain fish species.

I think the state of the Thames sums up Londons respect for the environment With the Olympics on the way I would want to clean up that brown cess pit. They wish it was a blue and clean as depicted on the Eastenders intro!

The Ecovacuum project held at Brussels last year said that vacuum cleaners are wasting electricity.

The MTP tests found that "Air Recycling Technology" could save 75% of the 2 Terawatts of the electricity, vacuum cleaners use which saves 1.5 TWh or the output of 800 wind Turbines.

This is worth £225 Million annually and 650,000 Tonnes of Co2, in the UK alone. And a saving of more than 25 Twh of electricity annually is possible in the EU. Equal to £3.25 billion and 13.5 million tonnes of CO2
