i remember playing this about 12 years ago, when i was 12. i hated this game and could never figure out where to go, watching this now, makes me feel like i made the rigth choice in deciding this game sucked

It's far from a clone. It just uses the same engine.

Or maybe you think Left 4 Dead is a Half-Life 2-clone? It uses the same Source engine...

Back then, almost every FPS was called a Doom clone. It's just a common term that applies to first person shooters based on the Build engine.
