Drink #21 - Lychee Martini

This is a very fresh asian inspired cocktail. As with all fresh cocktails, ballance is key. If you can't find fresh lychees, you could use canned ones and it would probably work fine. The muddling of the fresh lime is essential to get the fresh lime oils out of the skin.

I love lychees. When I make this, instead of using ordinary vodka, I use Hanger One Lime infused Vodka. It is very light, crisp and adds a nice flavor. Here's my way...

1 1/2 oz Lychee puree (throw a bunch in a blender until smooth)

1 oz lychee syrup from the can

1/2 oz Monin Pomagranite Syrup (adds a nice color)

2 oz Hanger One Lime Vodka

Throw in shaker with ice and strain into glass. Try it out, it's quite good.

Hangar One Kaffir Lime is an amazing product that I have not had the pleasure of experiencing, (my wallet is not thick enough). That looks like a nice idea for a drink, only it looks a little too sweet for my palate. I think the lychee puree would probably be sweet enough without the addition of the syrup.

Also, I was using fresh lychees not from a can, so the flavor might be a little better. The only disadvantage is that they are only available a couple months out of the year. (Those months are comming up.) Thanks for the coment and drink recipe.

great vid, but in Montréal city, we do it with vodka and lychees liquor and cranberry juice...
