I wish you could of showed her shots, very impressive, there's nothing wrong with teaching kids about weapons, as long as they know how to respect them.

nice job well disciplined and done safely you could definitely teach these other parents making shooting videos a lesson or 10. Bravo!

Wow, just amazing, she is very good, keep it up.

Amazing...... She is probably about 100 times safer than most of the adults I see shooting at the local range. A++ for teaching her like that. I did the same with my 14 year old son when he was 10.

aucun intérêt..!

@PoopOut71 Agree totally. The coach (perhaps her dad) sounds like a range instructor for live fire Army and Marine ranges where saftey and proper weapons handling is mastered before live fire. Judging by her technique, she is safer than most adults. The guy saying mistakes happen; they happen due to carelessness and I'm sure that dad insures the gun is properly cleaned and functioning before live fire.
Nice shooting Emily!

@kji198045 It's not "Rambo shit" it's IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association). Who determined that 12yos should only be "introduced" to .22 rifles? So far, I've only watched a few of her videos and I haven't seen any unsafe acts. Maybe not ALL 12yos should be firing IDPA, but obviously Emily should be....and is. Keep up the good work Emily.

@kji198045 I watched this video and I don't see any "Rambo shit"!?! It looked like he was teaching her safe techniques; and judging by how little recoil there was, he probably repacks his casings with less powder for training and safety. It also looks like she is preparing for a competition; where you have to start with the gun holstered; so I'm sure they have been doing this for a while and are past the airguns and .22's.
You can also search some of her actual video from her IDPA competitions... I am very proud of her. Thanks to all her supporters.

I don't beleive there is any set age that one should be exposed to firearms training. I know that at her age I was not nearly as mature and would probably not have been ready for formal training. Emily soaks everything up like a sponge and is an amazingly accurate shot with her current low recoil low flip setup I have her training with. I also find quite the opposite to be true... Because she is so attentive to detail and safety she is not COMPLACENT like most adults. Keep that in mind...

Thanks for the responses... Emily shoots IDPA competitively and is an outstanding shot. In fact she nearly always zeroes her targets as I always stress accuracy and geting good hits over speed. Her weapon handling and malfunction clearances are beyond what I see with 99% of adults. Her attention to detail and attention to safety are the reason why I knew she was ready to begin refining her skill at arms. As her father, I work on a SWAT team and also shoot IDPA.
