I tend to avoid Comicon because I HATE HATE HATE the world of mainstream comics, but seeing Beto hanging in there amidst the stunted adolescents makes me want to go, if nothing than to shake his hand and thank him for reigniting within me the joy of not just comix, but in the very medium of storytelling. A truly brilliant, underrated artist.

You should check out conventions like Paradise Comic-Con or Fan Expo if you're ever up here in Toronto at the right time of year.
There are often a lot of independent creators that come, along with the mainstream groups too. At Fan Expo, which we'll be again covering this coming weekend, there is a whole area called Artist's Alley where independent creators exhibit their works.
Well worth checking out.
