  • What did you use on the stocking? Didn't quite catch that. And It works for bass trombones too, right? Because I have an old buescher tenor and I just got a berkeley bass, and they both need some lube. Thank you in advance.

    whatever works

I have purchased simichrome and it has removed most of the mineral content on the bell. There are a couple of areas where im having a hard time getting them off. Would you recommend a wet rag and then apply the polish?

  • @CrownCollegeTN

As I mentioned in my last response Simichrome works well for me.

Beyond that... you can probably have the bell buffed and then re-laquered.

  • @alanraph

Yes sir, I have tried a wet rag. I took it to a music shop and they couldn't get it out. Would the polish you use get it off or do i still need to try something else?

  • @CrownCollegeTN

I assume you mean marks caused by the mineral content of the water ... they've dried and won't come off with a wet rag (?)

I use a metal polish called Simichrome for heavy duty cleaning. It works really well.

  • Mr. Raph. What would you recommend to get rid of water marks on the inner bell? I have tried just about everything, been to every music shop and they all said it can't be helped. Any suggestions?

  • Not too warm or it will peel the lacquer. Every month might be a bit much.

  • I will definitely try this. Would you also recommend giving the whole instrument a bath in warm soapy water every month or so?
