@Christian121y No, I was merely pointing out that, in a perfect world, a surge would not have been necessary; but since it did happen, it is better that it be a success and work than be a failure that costs American lives and wastes taxpayer money for no reason. And that's all Obama was saying. He was not "flip-flopping" as many here have suggested.

If you crash your car and then try to repair it and it runs again, you can say your repair has succeeded beyond your wildest expectations. But that doesn't necessarily mean its better than not crashing it in the first place.
