This is a video taken from the ridge on Anak Krakatau on Sept. 13, 2006. Anak Krakatau rose permanently again out of the sea back in 1930, 47 years after the cataclysmic eruption of 1883 that exploded the entire volcano into the ocean and the atmosphere. Now Anak Krakatau is pretty big, full of foliage, and it's over a couple hundred meters in height.
My best friend in college got married on August 27, 1983. Being the nerd that I am, I knew it was the 100th anniversary of the Krakatoa eruption and hoped it wasn't a bad sign. Unfortunately, their marriage, like the volcano, was a disaster :P
At least I always remembered their anniversary...

i love krakatoa, something about it's bad attitude i guess. it makes me want to be a volcanologist (or however you spell it).
