The day starts off in Mazon, along the BNSF Chillicothe Sub. We caught two trains while we were out.
Train 1: A short intermodal highballs east, powered by an H2 BNSF Dash 9 and a good looking BNSF Warbonnet Dash 9. Taken at 9:46 A.M.
Train 2: Another intermodal, this one westbound, highballs through town, powered by four BNSF Dash 9's and a Santa Fe Warbonnet Dash 9. Taken at 10:54 A.M. I was off to work after this train.
After work, I did a little night railfanning in Lockport, along the CN Joliet Sub. My main goal in Lockport was to get the Oil Local (Millsdale).
Train 1: Amtrak's Lincoln Service 306 heads north through town. Taken at 10:08 P.M.
Train 2: About a half hour after the Amtrak passed, a southbound train received the line-up. Only one train that can be. The Oil Local! I set up my equipment and waited. After a while, the headlight appeared and the usual pair of classic Grand Trunk Western GP38-2's came into sight. That's a bit of a different horn on the leader. It was pretty short today, as well.
I drove home, content.
BTW, if you get a chance, could you check out my new account? Thanks!
