Lightning: The White Stallion (1986) 1 of 9

In this family drama, Mickey Rooney (who else?!) plays a down-on-his-luck gambler who finds his prized horse Lightning stolen. As it turns out, a group of gangsters were responsible for the theft of the horse but suggest that a deal can be worked out if Stephanie, a young visually-impaired woman can win an upcoming horse race; that would allow her to win the money she needs for corrective surgery with some left over for both the horse's owner and the stable owner who helps condition Lightning for the competition. Kind of a weird premise for a family film but here you go.

quite a lot of fails in this movie (including changing the horses constantly)

As an adult, this movie is full of bad editing and acting, but as a child, I never saw a more enchanting thing :) funny how that works.

I hate to say it, but not only is the acting poor, but the horse is so damned ugly I can't even watch this.
