@personalfile I bought a Rlouge for 79 bucks in a starter package deal. Good deal, not a bad sound when I put new strings on after afew months...the whole thing snapped apart at the neck. I glued it back together but am scared to waste money on another set of strings. I'm a beginner myself after playing guitar for 20 years, and thought it was time to try something new. keep up the mandolins...later in life, you won't regret it. Best wishes.

You dont take lessons? Why dont you! It will only improve you both. So, I play mandoline for 6 years now, I really like it. And I absolutely love it to see 2 girls playing this rare instrument, and just having fun! :D Haha keep on the good job ;-)
