This is my new male Betta named Cosmo. I bought him at Petco and as you can see, he really seems to like his new enclosure better than the small cups he was kept in before I brought him home.

Betta Fish care videos are coming soon once I get more research!

  • I just bought my betta today at Petco as well and I bought the exact same tank that you have! c:

  • @iluvkiiroi25 Nice! I'll be looking for future videos of him!

  • @HermitGuy101

Well just bcuz you can put them in a small tank it doesnt mean they should be. they dont deserve it. 1 gallon plus is better and something with a filter

  • @Fishandanimalcare They don't like currents which filters cause. Like I said, 1 quarter gallon + is recommended by SEVERAL trusted sources.

  • isnt that only a half gallon tank?? u should get a bigger one

  • @Fishandanimalcare What's wrong with a half gallon? The appropriate living space for betta fish is 1 quarter gallon +. As long as I change up the decor about once a month and change the water weekly, he won't get very bored. Plus, I enter the room alot, and he enjoys looking around. I've seen tanks alot smaller. This is a perfect size.

  • @HermitGuy101 They are also tropical fish, and should have a water temp around 80. You can not safely heat an unfiltered tank.

  • @HermitGuy101 Lol yea thats not true. All fish benefit from filters. If you had a large enough tank the current would not affect the betta. Just look at one in a 20g filtered tank, and compare it to yours.

  • He looks happy! Try to get him at least a 5 gallon tank if you can afford it (I know Petco is having a sale right now where you can get a gallon a dollar [5 gallons = $5]). And if you get a bigger tank you can always get him some tank mates (like african dwarf frogs or ghost shrimp). Best of luck with your betta!

  • @HermitGuy101 then hopefully he lives the full betta life expectancy and maybe even more :3
