Launched a second one today. Amazing results -- it achieved a minimum 600-700 feet altitude gain. Perfect launch and trajectory as it flew out of site. I'll post video when time permits.
While it deviated from the expected course, the rocket continued to gain elevation until burn-out (which is not obvious in this video). Total height was probably only 300-400 feet. This is a cry compression, not melted, motor.
I've learned: use a consistent thickness and weight object (such as a wooden dowel) when making a giant bottle rocket.

It left the site, bu it flew out of sight. Sigh.
