Guitar playing sounds a bit like Tommy Allsop who played with Holly AFTER HIS BREAKUP WITH tHE cRICKETS.

I really wish there was more footage of Buddy Holly playing....I know its out there.
-
@buuddyh57 Well Waylon and Buddy were good friends and Waylon did liv with him on the Winter Dance Party, so there's probably some Buddy Holly in Waylon.

@MrRaymem That's a real pity allright. A piece of visual music history, gone forever. Would've been a real treat to see him performing on the BBC back then. Bet the BBC are kicking themselves at the loss of that footage, and rightly so.

This is SUPERB!!! Thanks for the post.

@buuddyh57 I agree Bud. Bud was way ahead of his time, and only J.I. & Joe B. know for sure, but the Strat/bass intro sounds more '70s Crickets than Holly'58 - tho no one ever knew what that long skinny Texan might do next.

Why isn't there any more live recordings of buddy apart from peggy sue, oh boy and maybe baby...his live recordings sound way much peppier than his studio recordings....
-
Nearly as rare as the original '' Cindy Lou '' recording. Top marks Mr Raymem.

i really, really love this version way more than the single version. <3 the guitar and vocals are mixed so well and arent smothered by the background vocals.
This recording is from the Buddy Holly Off The Record album And was recorded at the BBC Riverside studio in London, where the performance was filmed for later broadcast. On march 27th the film of Maybe Baby was aired on BBC television's Off The Record, hosted by Jack Payne.Although the film was destroyed two years later this audio survived thanks to 2 fans,Fred Porter & Tony Dodd.

Is this real? Where did you this? The guitar work sounds like the Waylon Jennings medley. Not the way Buddy played it on his other live recordings.
