How to Update to iPod touch Firmware 2.2 for FREE

This is a How To Video on how to install firmware 2.2 for free without paying 10 dollars on the itunes store.
Requirements:
ipod touch 1g
usb cable
pc
internet connection
firmware 1.1.4, 1.1.5, 1.1.3 or lower
Steps:
1. go to www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
2. download 2.2 file specified in video
3. take note of folder
4 connect ipod and open itunes
5. click on restore button while holding "shift" on keyboard, (will clear all data, will be put back on after update)
6. Let it do its thing and if failure occurs try 2 more times

In order to extract the file from the winrar file, u must download winrar which is free, and then after u install it, right click the firmware file's rar file. and click on "extract here"

does it matter if you have a 1g ipod and you try with a 2g restore?

yes it does, the 2nd generation ipod has a slightly different firmware.

learn how to explain shit when you type this shit isnt working. do u have to start the ipod over or do you have to back it up again?

yea if u fit the requirements and stuff.. then u do the shift held while clcking restore thing and then find the file and itll do its thing. after that is shud say it is done restoring and itll restart in 15 seconds. So it restarts and goes to a screen wher eit says to make a "new" ipod or a backup of ur old profile, if u wanna keep ur songs and contacts from before make it a backup. then itl readd everything and ull be back to normal but with the 2.2 firmware.
