Secularism: The Greatest Challenge Facing Islam - Shaykh Hamza Yusuf

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf Hanson:
Shaykh Hamza was born in Washington State to a Catholic father, a university professor of Humanities, and a Greek Orthodox mother, a graduate from the University of California at Berkeley and was raised in Northern California. In 1977, he became Muslim and subsequently traveled to the Muslim world and studied for ten years in the U. A. E., Saudi Arabia, as well as North and West Africa. He received teaching licenses in various Islamic subjects from several well-known scholars in various countries. After ten years of studies abroad, he returned to the USA and earned degrees in Religious Studies and Health Care. He has traveled all over the world giving talks on Islam. He also founded Zaytuna Institute which has established an international reputation for presenting a classical picture of Islam in the West and which is dedicated to the revival of traditional study methods and the sciences of Islam. Shaykh Hamza is the first American lecturer to teach in Morocco's prestigious and oldest University, the Qarawiyin in Fes. In addition, he has translated into modern English several classical Arabic traditional texts and poems. Shaykh Hamza currently resides in Northern California with his wife and five children.

For the common man, aqeedah is supposed to be easy and that is what Hamza is referring to. Do you expect the illiterate Bedouin to understand the complexities of aqeedah? No, of course not. All that is required is to believe that Allah is One and there is nothing likened unto Him. Allah is All-Powerful; All-Knowing, etc. Allah does not beget children nor take wives. Far is Allah removed from "His" creation, yet "He" is closer to you than your own jugular vein. These concepts are not difficult.

Hamza is an eating, shitting, fucking, sleeping blob of flesh and bone just like everyone else. Nobody is special. Nobody. If you think like a sheep, you'll be one. If you think like a herder, you'll be one. It's all in the head. If you follow a man, you may as well worship him. To follow a being with bodily needs is pathetic. Pathetic. Thanks a lot for the upload, ... Hamza Yusuf has done incredible things to support this ummah. And I'll take his old work anytime, that was more on the sunnah. Now he's no longer trustworthy, and he's more in one of the strange paths of the sufiya.

Extreme ignorance presented as wisdom. Typical of islam. That's why the islamic world is backward and will stay there for a long time if islam is not reformed in non trivial ways. Secularism is a must for all would be modern societies.
