Dull Boy Green Screen Contest Entry

Update: There will be a new version sometime soon. I have re-cut the video and I am in the process of tracking the footage.

This is my entry for Mudvayne's Dull Boy contest. I went about a way of creating a 3D environment in After Effects and then matching the camera motions the best I could frame by frame. That combined with less than a year of using After Effects means that I was working on the video in nearly all my free time for the past few weeks but because of school, I ran out of time. Feel free to ask about anything you see or just tear it apart. I have no problem if someone thinks it looks bad, just tell me so I know what I can do in the future to improve.

I am aware that there are motion issues between the camera and the background but it is not easy matching camera motions when the camera is not on a track. There are also some of the white + marks that I missed either because I did not see them or the mask would be too complicated like going between the drum set.

It looks like the green screen stuff was entirely pointless, the backgrounds were really bland in the end, but at least you can still use your masked footage and render new backgrounds. That's whats great about green screening.

If I had more time I would have put in something more than just a room. I ended up wasting too much time trying to match the motion by hand and getting a suitable key which I was not completely successful at.

I have a question regarding something like this, what are those camera rigs that allow you to do repeat movement over and over again? They usually use computers you can program moves into. Then you can do the same movement over and over, with green screened people, a plate background, special effects, then in the end combine it all together to make one shot that has the same camera move. I can't think of the name of the device. Thanks.

love the song but cant bring myself to cough up 12 quid for 2 songs, dont get me wrong ive got the rest of the albums and love the band but why the fuck the did nt release a single or summit and let us the fans spend the money on a 'new' album?????

That would be the mask I made to cut out the white + marks. I probably missed it because at one point I remembered that the simple choker could take out what I was masking causing me to abandon the mask.
