@Luciditi2 But war and crimes committed during war is a really complex subject. I wouldnt peg it as shame. Like Victor mentioned America also glosses over certain parts of history. I also agree that most people want to focus on the present and future. No need to obsess over things that have happened in the past.

It seems like the schools keep out some of the history out of the textbooks. I wonder why? Maybe they are ashamed of some of their history.

You think the USA highlights all the American Indians they killed or the racist propaganda during WW2? Or that they conducted secret experiments on Guatemalans? Of course the history books are biased. The information is here, but to be honest, most people just don't seem to care about the past. They think more about the present and future.
