"National Novel Writing Month, I think, fits in beautifully with writing practice," says Natalie Goldberg, who has authored some of the best writing guides around (Wild Mind, Writing Down the Bones). Goldberg has long felt that the writing process should be intuitive and uncensored. NaNowWriMo encourages aspiring writers to quit procrastinating and unleash their creative energy. At the end of the month participants finally know that they can finish something. This, Goldberg insists, is a valuable lesson, even for seasoned writers like her. What matters, she says, is not "the success of my books, but that I keep showing up." Learn more about Goldberg and her advice for struggling writers in Open Road's special video celebrating NaNoWriMo.
