I remember very well how amazed people were by Pong. In fact, I remember that my friend and I enjoyed looking at the screen in this hotel lobby without even playing the game -- we were amazed. You have to remember, this was before the Internet, before banking machines, before PCs, before VCRs, etc.... To actually have control over something on a television screen was very radical and rather empowering, too.
HA - had that in 1975 and we all thought it was the shit!! Saw the new retro version in a store a couple years back. Showed it to my 8-year-old; he watched the demo for all of 2 seconds before he went back to playing "Super Extreme Death Match 2237" or whatever the hell it was...
because it's the best video games could do in the 70s. Trust me, if you were around back then, you will know why so many people think this game was/still is amazing.

also why is this black and white if it was in the 1970s?
I built this game from scratch last month. Maybe I post video about it somewhere...
