The final original version.... i have waited 4 years to upload this, i couldn't for various reasons, but now here it is. The playing on this is glorious in my opinion... but i like that kind of stuff.

Below is the history behind this, comments from both Shawn and Jonothan.... copied from an incomplete versions post;

This is from Shawn Phillips giving the correct story. I have asked him if he wants me to remove his music as i didn't ask his permission to use it. I am awaiting his reply.

From Shawn:
Just so you all know, Shortfits is my nickname for YouTube. thanks for your comments, but I'd like to set you straight if I may. Jonathan Weston had nothing to do with this piece of music. In fact, he walked into the session, as we were finishing up. I improvised it on the spot with Mick Weaver, and John Shepphard, (Producer for World In Action), paid for the session. At the time, I was not a member of the British Musicians Union, and there was some question as to how I\'d get paid, but Granada told John that night when he called them, that I might make, oh..................2 or 3 pounds at the most. So, Jonathan said we could put his name down as composer, and if anything came in, he would give it to me. Never did any of us dream that this music would run for more than 30 years. it was only 20 years later that I found out Weston had been collecting the royalties all those years. He collected over 189,000 pounds, and never gave me a penny of it. The man was, and remains a slimeball, and an Asshole with a capitol A.

I wish you Health, Love, and Clarity, Shawn Phillips

The Answer:
Absolutely not sir !!!! it's the only way the music will be heard, and the truth of the crime to be out. Thank you for putting it up. Health, Love, and Clarity, Shawn Phillips

To try and keep an impartial balance:

I produced every mili second of this theme which was edited together from a jam session at Trident Studios actually on time while I was producing for polydor records. Just for the record - Jonathan P Weston

To continue, YOU STILL STOLE THE MONEY AND HAVEN'T TRANSFERRED THE COPYRIGHT BACK TO ME. Just to reiterate, and so people know, It was 189,000 Pounds British Sterling. This ain't chump change scumbag. Do I sound angry? Deal with it. I could educate my 4 year old son with that money. Why don't you take out a loan, give me my money, and pay it off with the royalties you're still getting? If this hasn't been eating away at you all these years, you are the personification of what's wrong today.

  • Any chance you could 'stitch' the two parts together? I tried it & made a complete hash of it :-(

  • @swordsmith7

If you look for the one called "Instrumental Only" you will find what you are after.

  • FAB!! Is the full intro music also around?

  • @orangefunk

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

The intro music is really quite short... it is sugued onto one of my other posts.

I do have all of the seperate bits though, i keep meaning to post those.

  • @fivestring thanks man! Yep, I have searched for this tune since the 80s, asked lots of specialist stores into progressive rock and got nowhere. Big influence on me and lots of musicians of my generation... I have a Hammond B3 behind me as I type! What a crazy story though eh with Shawn... hope he gets what is deserved. His 1976 collaboration with the Headhunters was also incredible...

  • @orangefunk

I would like to "feel" this played live through a 10k rig in front of an audience... the power of those low notes would shake your senses.

  • A marvellous piece of, shoot me if i say this, prog rock accompanied by scenes we all remember from the seventies, strikes, marches, British Leyland cars, punks, hippies.
