SXDG (Somerset and Exeter Derby Girls) vs Kernow Krakens (Cornwall Roller Derby) 08 / 05 / 2011
This is the First Half of the bout. All jams filmed.
The second half is missing a few jams due to the camera deciding to develop a mind of its own... and the battery falling over. I guess it was just one of those days. :*(
I managed to find the only power point that was free at the venue and continued to film the last few jams of the day unhindered.
*UPDATE*
It has come to my attention that some people have been bitching about me uploading these videos to YouTube. They are saying I have uploaded them with the express intention of "disputing the referees" and to "show mistakes".
Seriously? People think I am that petty? No. Let me tell you now, this video was put up to show a Roller Derby bout, plain and simple. If you are seeing mistakes in there or bad calls, whatever, that's YOUR perception.
The camera is an unbiased, impartial spectator. It does not lie, it does not "focus" on mistakes or bad calls, or even good plays and great calls. The camera DOES NOT CARE as it is a bunch of plastic, microchips and buttons. The only human interaction with the camera is a guy turning it so that the pack are always in the viewfinder.
If you are seeing any more than this, you are over-thinking and over-analysing the intention of uploading it.
This was purely uploaded to have a nice, visual record of the day for everyone who was there to look back on, and for those of us who could not make it to see what it was like.

Yes indeedy, players may only wear quad skates. Preferably ones designed for Roller Derby. I'm not sure 100% if that last statement is a rule, though, but I have never seen a Derby Girl skating on the full-ankle or hard-shell boots.
Refs, however, may wear any kind of roller boot, even blades. I am training to ref at the moment and I used to skate on blades, but bought a pair of Riedell R3's which I much prefer over any other kind of skate. They're light and fast as hell!

Hey Nadz. Are the traditional type of skate mandatory? I'm only seeing a referee with in-lines, but maybe I'm not lookin hard enough, lol.
