  • Great video. I've actually come across elk that were deaf from having deer fly eggs laid in their ear canals.

    By the way, I love the song you use in this. Do you know the name of the song and the artist? I would really love to find it.

  • Thank you for the compliment. The song is called Lord of the Dance. I think it is a traditional Celtic songor an older hymn that has been recorded by many different artists. This one, I think is done by Riverdance.

  • That is very perceptive of you to notice. He acted like he was blind because he never looked at me, but ran away in the opposite direction. Once I figured out what wa happening, I stopped filming him.

    When I returned to the main campground, I talked to a mule packer who had been in the mountains all his life. He said that deer flies lay eggs that burrow down to the optic nerve and cause them to go blind.
